One of the crucial things for me about something like this is the setting. I don’t a massive space, I don’t like massive crowds, I like to be able to take a step back and, and this is the most important part TAKE A FUCKING SEAT.
SWG3 is probably the best venue in Glasgow if not the world for anything, I’ve been to a fancy Burns supper, gigs, art shows, whisky launch things and whisky festivals and I love it, it’s easy to get to, it’s well spaced out, and it has a chairs and a place to breath and relax.
The National Whisky Festival comes to Glasgow on the 25th January at SWG3, obviously, and is a smaller affair than some of the massive festivals but I find the smaller venue just so much less confusing.
With your ticket you’ll get a Glencairn and a fiver off a full bottle voucher to be used on the day or in the Good Spirits shop and then when you’re in you’re free to unwind and enjoy as much as you like, as long as it’s within moderation, don’t be that one guy who ends up steamboats after an hour on the cocktails and drams.
You still get forty or so stalls with whisky Ambassadors plying their trade from huge multi nationals to the smallest of the small producers, maybe not the smallest of the smallest but cut me some slack I’m trying to be poetic.
You’ll get food too, excellent food, and music and Master classes and I’ll be there trying to avoid eye contact, as usual, oh aye and whisky.
Good Spirits will be there if you’re wanting a bottle of anything on display too and there are places to sit, did I mention that already?
There is nothing worse than having to stand for hours at these things or eat standing up, I’ve never seen the attraction in that, if I wanted to eat standing up in a place full of people I’d go to a football match twenty years ago, but that’s the beauty of this venue and this festival, it doesn’t try and cram in as much as possible, people can spend their time relaxing, chatting, and thinking about their dram in hand, what’s not to like?
Here’s the full list of distilleries and stuff.
There are still a handful of tickets available, maybe see you there?
The Captain.
