Scotch Malt Whisky Society Review bottle 64.75 "Feast of Fruits" 60.8%

I know nowt about Mannochmore and this is a new one for me here at Whisky Apocalypse Towers which is always good news and I have to say it took me the full 10cl bottle to get anywhere the bottom of this dram.

This was part of my Society Subscription pack.
This is aged 12 Years and is a whopping 60.8%.
I took this with a bit of water and it can handle a fair bit, maybe as much as 30% water was added to really bring out all the flavours.
Nose. Chinese Five Spice, white pepper and lime pickle, it’s rather overwhelming at first and needs time in the glass to calm down a bit, after a while some berry fruits, a touch of soap and over ripe bananas.
Palate. A little sweeter than the nose suggests, almost like a bourbon with toffee and brown sugar as well as pear tart and blackcurrant jam on heavily buttered toast, vanilla cream and then oak.
Finish. Oak and sweetness leaving a slight Stevia aftertaste.
An enjoyable dram and quite a challenge to get my head around it but that’s often the case when I’m not familiar with a dram.
The Captain.
